MUSIC AT ST. JOHN'S 2010 CONCERT SEASON
St. John's United Methodist Church invites you to attend five superb concerts during our 2010 concert season.
- January 24: Trout Fishing in America, acclaimed singer/songwriter duo
- February 21: The UNM Concert Choir, superb choral music conducted by Bradley Ellingboe
- June 6: Sol Calypso, virtuoso percussion ensemble
- September 19: Dick Hyman, legendary jazz pianist
- October 24: Jose Daniel Flores vs. Marcos Flores, organist vs. pianist, a duo (and duel) to answer the question: "Who really is the King of Instruments?"
Music at St. John's concerts are offered as a gift to the Albuquerque community. A free will offering will be received at each event, but there is no admission charge. All concerts begin at 2:00 p.m. in the sanctuary. A reception to honor our guests will be held immediately following the concert in the Family Life Center. Complimentary childcare is available at each concert.
24 HOURS THAT CHANGED THE WORLD 7-WEEK LENTEN STUDY BEGINS ASH WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 17
24 Hours That Changed the World, the latest study by Adam Hamilton, Senior Pastor of the UM Church of the Resurrection, helps you better understand the events that occurred during the last 24 hours of Jesus' life; to see more clearly the theological significance of Christ's suffering and death; and to relfect upon the meaning of these events for your life.
This 7-week Lenten study meets on Wednesdays, February 17-March 31, 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and will be led by Jack & Carol Nuzum. Registration forms are available in the Welcome Center. INTERFAITH HOSPITALITY NETWORK (IHN) FUNDRAISING CONCERT ON FEBRUARY 21
IHN will be holding a fundraising concert featuring secular music performed by Rabbi Joe Black of Congregation Albert. This will be a lovely evening of secular music performed by one of the most talented singer-songwriters in the area. The concert will be held on February 21 at 7:00 p.m. at the Embassy Suites Hotel between Mountain and Lomas just west of I-25. The evening will include a luscious dessert buffet and a delightful evening of music and entertainment. Tickets are $30/person, or $275/table of 10 in advance, and will be available for purchase in the Welcome Center beginning Sunday, January 24.
